Straight answers to what people ask before they give a website a PDF. bpdf is part of bstack, made and run by one person: me, Matias Barragan. The legal version is the Privacy Policy.
Does it upload my PDFs?
No. Your browser reads, edits and compresses the file on your device, with code that ships with the page, and sends your PDFs nowhere. You can check it: open your browser's network tab while you work. After one visit bpdf also works with the internet off.
There is one exception. If you sign in, Save to my account is on until you turn it off, and the PDFs you download are also saved to your account. The top of the page says Saving to your account while that is on.
What is stored, and where
For guests, nothing. Your browser keeps a copy of the page so it opens offline, and remembers whether you picked light or dark. With saving on, each saved PDF goes to Tigris storage under your account, and its name, size, page count and date go to a database at Neon. Your bstack account holds up to 50 MB across every tool. PDFs stay until you delete them under Your PDFs or at bstack.cc/account.
How bpdf makes money
It doesn't. bpdf is free, with no daily limit. Later I plan an optional paid bstack Pro for things that cost money to run, like room in your account. Nothing you can do today will move behind it. I never sell your data.
No AI
bpdf has no AI in it. It changes only what you ask it to change.
Is it open source?
Not today. It is built on open source parts: PDFium (through EmbedPDF) and LibPDF. Questions go to mati@barragan.com.py.
